JPIS students shine at Harvard debating invitational

Jaipur: It was a memorable weekend for the students of Jayshree Periwal International School (JPIS), who put up an impressive performance at the 12th Annual Harvard College Debating Union World Schools India Invitational 2026, held at the school’s Jaipur campus from August 14 to 16.

JPIS was named Best School at the three-day event after its students recorded the highest cumulative speaker points. The achievement came alongside strong performances by students across the open and novice categories.

The school’s Grade 11 team of Kaanishka Verma, Suhani Gupta and Tanishka Sridhar, competing as Team 53, reached the novice final. Their performance gave JPIS another reason to celebrate at an event that brought together young debaters and tested their ability to think on their feet, build arguments and work as a team.

There were individual honours too. Ayanna Bhansali was named Best Speaker in the Open category, while Sukriti Vijay won the Best Speaker award in the Novice category.

For JPIS, the results were not just about trophies and titles. The performance reflected the confidence and preparation of its students, who competed against fellow young debaters on their home campus and came away with several top honours.

The school said the achievement was a proud moment for the entire JPIS community and a recognition of the students’ hard work in debating and public speaking.
